Local residents Dale and Alice Kennedy recently celebrated the ribbon cutting of their new produce stand, which they started at their home in March of this year. After working at PEP for four years, Alice shared, “It was time to take a different path in life. So, I decided to try a produce market for Belle and the surrounding areas.”
The business began modestly, with Alice purchasing 10 flats of strawberries to sell from a table in her front yard. She saved every penny to purchase a variety of fruits and vegetables. As demand grew, they quickly realized they needed more space. Since then, they have converted their garage into a full-produce store, offering a large selection of fruits and vegetables, jams, spices, local honey, and even shrimp.
In addition to fresh produce, the market offers freeze-dried goodies from WN Farmstand and various items from local crafters. Dale and Alice are now offering fruit and veggie trays, with small trays serving 15-20 people for $25, and large trays serving 30-40 people for $35, both including a homemade dip. Orders should be placed a week in advance unless otherwise discussed, and trays are made fresh on the day of pickup to ensure quality.
Alice’s goal is to remain open year-round, providing fresh and affordable fruits and vegetables to the community. The business has already become a valuable addition to Belle, supporting local customers with fresh produce and other goods.
The produce stand is located at 21560 Hwy 42, Belle, MO. Business hours are:
- Wednesday: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Thursday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Friday: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Saturday: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Sunday: Noon to 5 p.m.
- Closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Congratulations to Dale and Alice on their new business venture!
